FAQs

You don't need one, but most ruckers who try a bladder don't go back to bottles. Hands-free access means you drink more consistently without breaking stride, which matters most on longer or faster sessions. Bottles work fine for shorter rucks under 45 minutes in mild conditions, and you can carry one in the main compartment of the backpack. For anything longer, particularly in Australian heat, a bladder makes the difference between consistent hydration and remembering to stop and drink.

For most rucks under 60 minutes, 500ml to 1L is sufficient. For sessions of 60 to 90 minutes or longer, or in hot Australian conditions, 1.5 to 2L is the practical target. The 2L capacity of this bladder covers the full range. Rucking generates more body heat than walking due to the extra load, so hydration needs are slightly higher than you might expect from a walk of the same duration. In summer or on exposed trails, err on the side of more.

Yes. The carabiner clips to the interior D-ring inside the main compartment, and the tube exits through the dedicated drinking tube port built into the pack. The magnetic hose clip secures the tube to the shoulder strap webbing for quick access without fumbling. It integrates cleanly without affecting weight balance or taking up space you'd otherwise use for gear.

After each use, empty the bladder completely and rinse with clean water. Leave the slide-seal opening propped wide open to air dry. Hanging it upside down works well. For a deeper clean, use a cleaning tablet or diluted baking soda solution, soak for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. The wide-mouth slide-seal design makes thorough cleaning considerably easier than bladders with narrow necks. Don't leave water sitting in a sealed bladder between sessions. That's where mould starts.

The bladder is made from TPU, a food-grade material that is completely free from BPA, BPS, BPF, and BPAF. These are the plasticiser compounds linked to health concerns in older hydration products. TPU is widely used in high-use hydration gear because it's durable, taste-neutral, and safe for repeated daily use. There's no plastic aftertaste and no compromise on safety.

With regular rinsing and proper drying after each use, most people get years of reliable use from it. The TPU material holds up considerably better under repeated use than older bladder materials. The most common reason bladders fail early is mould from leaving water sitting inside between sessions, which the wide-mouth slide-seal design makes much easier to prevent than bladders with narrow necks.

Yes. The carabiner attachment and standard tube routing make it compatible with most hydration-ready backpacks that have an internal hook point and a drinking tube exit port.
