Seamlessly integrating with our backpack's weight pockets, our Rucking Weights amp up the intensity. Compact 5kg, 10kg, and 15kg iron plates pack serious resistance in an ultra-dense, ergonomic design. Rounded edges and integrated handles make loading effortless. Forged from premium iron ore with a rust-resistant matte black coating. Start light and progressively increase weight to build serious strength and endurance.
Don't go max weight from day one. A good rule of thumb is to start at around 10% of your body weight, then build up in 5kg steps as each load starts to feel easy.

I love the idea of Rucking as it makes complete sense to me at my age of 61. I have trained hard all my life including running marathons but these days I enjoy the simpler things such as daily 5K walks with my 2 dogs. The well constructed backpack and flat weight system makes this so much easier than a normal loaded up back pack. Personally I find the 10kg weight very manageable and prefer to load up on my hips more than the shoulders. I've noticed on my fitness tracker a good increase in heart rate and effortlessly lost 2kg in useless body fat over the last 3 week. Highly recommended Clive in Sydney Australia

I rucked with with the 15kg with the backpack up high, no waist belt. I felt it between my shoulder blades, my traps and back of my neck. Great for posture and work some muscles that don’t get much work on my usual walks. Great backpack, very well made, totally recommended to add some upper body stimulus to your walks.

The pack fits well and is super comfortable. I took it along with the 5kg weight and a water bottle on a 13 km hike with friends around the "Nil Desperandum and Boundary Loop" in the ACT. The pack was comfortable and good practice as it's about the same weight and size as I'll be carrying on my next Camino (Camino Sanabrés) in Spain in September/October 2026. I was able to put the water bottle (along with two dog-clips to hold it in place) in the second (unused) 'removable weight' pocket. This arrangement worked well for me, but maybe you could consider adding either one, or two external side pockets for water bottles, etc., similar to regular packs.

Super compact and dense to allow for combining with higher weights to incrementally increase total mass. Strongly recommended for levelling up

Outstanding Quality and Perfect Fit! The 10 kg Ruckaway Rucking Weights are exceptional — beautifully made, precise in weight, and a perfect fit for the Ruckaway backpack. The build quality is top-tier, with no rough edges or rattling once loaded. It feels solid, balanced, and clearly designed by people who understand real-world use. Customer service was also outstanding — friendly, responsive, and genuinely committed to making sure everything was right. Couldn’t be happier — highly recommend!

Nice weight to go into your rucking pack. Quality seems high and easy to pick up due to the hand holds. I actually use this as a free weight for at home work outs too!

I’m really happy with the purchase. The weight plate is well made and easy to manner due to the handles designed into the plate. The pack itself is excellent. The quality is outstanding and the canvas and zippers very heavy duty. I’m not the tallest and I found the pack comfortable to wear with the plate installed. I haven’t used the bladder yet but I guess it’s pretty standard for a bladder. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase and I would recommend it.

The weight fits well into the pocket in the backpack. It doesn't move around while walking, keeping it secure in the pack.

Extremely happy with this item, the quality of the items is outstanding and easy to use, adjust and clean. Have tried plenty of products in the past over the years and none have been as fit for purpose. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for this type of equipment.

Not only do I use the plates in the official ruck pack, I also slip these 5kg plates into my work bag to sneak in extra ruck time commuting to and from work via the train/walking.

Very well constructed backpack and weight plate. I am always looking for ways to tack on a quick ruck in between or during other activities, and this pack has the build quality and smarts to allow that. One check on my enthusiasm recently occurred when I went to file some papers at a Tribunal. The security guards at the entrance security scanner were equally curious and amazed at the rig, but I did have to check in the weight plate before heading in! Thanks to the Ruckaway team for their care and attention.

After consuming a lot of the information referenced on the Ruckaway website/socials, I ultimately decided to invest the money in a proper bag. The backpack itself has been a game changer for me so far. I had previously been utilising just a regular backpack with some dumbbells inside to provide some resistance while walking but it wasn’t until I put on the ruckaway bag that I could fully appreciate and understand the advantage of a purpose built/designed rucking bag. Obviously the fact that the weights have been specifically designed to sit comfortably within the bag is a major advantage but having the load evenly distributed across the straps and sitting higher on your back makes the entire experience much more comfortable and really takes the heat off your joints and lower back. Will definitely be recommending the Ruckaway backpack and weights to family and friends.

The rucking weight distributes the load exceptionally well over your back which provides a high level of stability & comfort.

For most people starting out, 5kg is the right entry point. It's light enough to maintain good form and build the habit of rucking without overloading your body early. As a general guide, aim for around 10% of your bodyweight, starting at the lighter end while you're finding your feet. For someone weighing 80kg, that's up to 8kg, so our 5kg plate is a sensible starting point for most people.
From there, 10kg is a solid intermediate load that most people progress to within a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on how often they ruck and their existing fitness base. The 15kg plate suits experienced ruckers or those with a larger body frame who are ready to work harder from the start.
A useful progression principle: build duration before adding weight. Getting comfortable carrying your starting load for 45 to 60 minutes is a better foundation than jumping up in weight and cutting sessions short. Our beginners guide walks through the full progression. For a detailed breakdown of starting weights by body size, see our rucking weight guide.
A good rule of thumb is no more than one-third of your bodyweight. Beyond that, the risk of injury increases and the training benefits start to decline. If you want to make your rucks more challenging without adding more weight, increase distance, pace, or terrain gradient instead. Two 15kg plates gives you the maximum recommended load from our system at 30kg, which suits very experienced ruckers or those doing structured load-bearing training.
Each pocket can fit a weight up to the size of our 15kg plate: 292mm (H) x 229mm (W) x 39mm (D). Our weights are designed to fit these pockets precisely, which keeps them flat against your back rather than shifting around as you walk.
The backpack has two weight pockets. You can configure them as follows:
With both pockets combined, the maximum load from plates alone is 30kg. The main compartment also accommodates everyday items alongside your weights, so it doubles as a practical daily carry bag.
The plates are designed for the Ruckaway backpack's weight pockets, which are sized and positioned to hold them flat against your spine. They can physically fit in other backpacks with plate sleeves or rigid compartments, but the load transfer and stability won't match what the Ruckaway system delivers. If using them in a different bag, position the weight as close to your back and as high in the pack as possible for the most comfortable carry.
The plates are cast iron with a matte black powder coat that protects against corrosion and chipping under normal use. Cast iron will rust if left wet for extended periods, so if they get caught in the rain, dry them off before storing. Under normal Australian conditions, including coastal humidity, the powder coat holds up well with basic care.
Yes. The integrated handle makes them practical for farmer's carries, loaded step-ups, and using as an anchor for resistance band work. They're not calibrated gym plates, but they're solid and versatile for functional training beyond rucking. The 5kg and 10kg sizes are the most practical for home training movements.
